Stop means stop

Every platform in this market will chase your customers for you. The question worth asking is what happens when one of them says enough — because a follow-up that arrives after somebody asked you to stop costs more than the sale it was chasing.

What it does

How it works

  1. A customer replies stop on any channel, or says it during a call.
  2. The suppression is recorded against the person, not the thread, so it reaches every channel they use.
  3. Every send and every dial is checked against it — on each send during a campaign, not once at the start, so somebody who opts out mid-run stops receiving.
  4. They can come back whenever they like by replying start. That is the only route back.

Where it stops

Every product page in this market lists capabilities. This is the other half — the things it does not do, so you find out here rather than in month two.

  • Honouring an opt-out is not compliance with any regime, and we will not say it is. It is a mechanism we built, not a legal position we can give you.
  • We never verify opt-IN. That someone agreed to hear from you is an attestation you give us when you import them, and nothing on our side checks it.
  • Nobody at your business — or at Kooday — can put a customer back on. Only they can, by replying start. That is deliberate, and it is not configurable.
  • A spoken opt-out is a best-effort backstop, never a guarantee. A clear command is caught deterministically; plainer phrasings depend on transcription and wording. The typed keyword is the part that always works.
  • The do-not-call list is a separate, manually managed list that the calling paths read. It is not the same thing as a customer opting out, and one does not populate the other.

Common questions

Can I put someone back on if they ask me to in person?

No, and that is on purpose. Ask them to reply start — it takes them two seconds and it means the record of consent is theirs rather than yours. A platform where staff can re-subscribe people is a platform where a suppression list means nothing.

Will opting out stop their order updates?

No. Promotional follow-ups stop; order and payment updates keep flowing, because somebody who does not want your offers usually still wants to know their delivery is coming. If they want everything to stop, they say stop all.

Does this make me compliant?

No. We are careful about this one: honouring an opt-out is a mechanism, not a compliance guarantee, and anyone selling you the latter is overreaching. What we can tell you is exactly what the system does, which is what this page is for.
