An AI knowledge base is the set of a business’s own material — a price list, an FAQ, a policy document — that a conversational AI assistant is given so it answers from real, current facts instead of guessing.

It’s what separates an assistant that says something plausible from one that says something true. A large language model on its own has no idea what a specific clinic charges for a specific procedure; it has to be given that information, and kept up to date as it changes, or it will answer confidently and wrongly.

Keeping a knowledge base current is the actual work involved in running one — not the initial setup, but noticing when a price or policy changes and updating the source the assistant reads from, since an assistant is only ever as current as what it was last given.

How this gets set up in practice, on the knowledge base page.
