How campaigns show up in your pipeline

When a campaign produces a deal, the deal says so — what gets credited, what deliberately does not, and why most of your deals will never carry a campaign name.

Updated 16 August 2026 6 min read

You send a campaign. Some people write back. Some of those conversations turn into real deals on your board — and then, a month later, someone asks whether the campaign was worth sending.

A deal that came out of a campaign carries the campaign’s name. You see it on the card, and again in the deal’s detail panel where it links through to that campaign’s report. Nothing about your board changes otherwise: the deal is an ordinary deal, worked the ordinary way.

Most of your deals will never carry a campaign name, and that is correct. Most business does not come from a campaign. A deal with no name on it is not a deal with missing information.

Where to find it: Pipeline in the left-hand menu. Click any card to open its detail panel.

What you see

On a card, the campaign’s name appears as a small chip alongside the channel and the deal’s age.

In the detail panel, the same name appears at the top, next to the stage — and there it is a link. Following it opens that campaign’s report, which is where the deals, replies and opt-outs for the whole campaign live.

A deal with no campaign shows nothing at all in either place. Not Direct, not a dash, not a greyed-out label. This is deliberate: if every unattributed deal wore a badge, the badge would be on almost every card, and the one that matters would stop standing out.

⚠️ The link is only a link when campaigns are switched on for you. If your account does not have the campaigns feature, the name still appears — it is a fact about your deal — but it is plain text rather than a link, because the report it would open is not available to you.

What gets credited to a campaign

A deal is credited to a campaign when all of these are true:

What has to happen
1The campaign message was actually sent to that person
2They replied on WhatsApp, within 72 hours of it going out
3That reply’s conversation is what opened the deal

Three rules decide the rest:

  • The most recent campaign wins, and only one is credited. Someone who got two campaigns this week and then writes back is credited to the later one. A reply is one event; letting it count twice would inflate the only figure worth trusting.
  • Credit is given once and never revised. A later campaign cannot take a deal that has already been credited, and neither can a later conversation.
  • An existing deal keeps what it had. If the person already had an open deal and the campaign reply simply added to it, the campaign does not claim it. Only a deal opened by that conversation is credited.

What is deliberately not credited

  • Replies on Instagram, Messenger or your website chat. A campaign goes out by phone number, and credit is worked out by phone number. If the customer answers you somewhere else instead, the conversation is handled completely normally and the deal is real — it simply carries no campaign name. Your true response to a campaign is somewhat higher than your board suggests, and there is no way to tell by how much.
  • Replies after 72 hours. A week-later reply is ordinary business, and crediting it would let a campaign take credit for a conversation it did not cause.
  • Anyone who was not sent to. People skipped at send time were never messaged, so they can never be credited. The campaign report shows who was skipped and why.

Renaming and deleting campaigns

Renaming is safe. The name shown on a deal is looked up live, so renaming a campaign renames it everywhere it appears — on every card, in every detail panel, at once. Nothing is copied onto the deal.

Deleting a campaign clears the credit. The deals stay exactly where they are, worked as before, but they stop naming a campaign — they read as if they were never attributed. There is no “deleted campaign” placeholder, because the honest answer after a delete is that we no longer know.

Troubleshooting

A deal I know came from a campaign shows no campaign name

Work down this list — the first three are far more likely than the last:

  1. They replied on another channel. Only WhatsApp replies are credited.
  2. They replied more than 72 hours later. The window is not visible on the deal; check the campaign’s send date against the conversation.
  3. The deal already existed. A campaign reply that adds to an open deal does not claim it.
  4. The campaign was deleted. Its deals now read as unattributed.

Every deal on my board shows no campaign

If you have not sent a campaign yet, this is simply the empty state — attribution only exists from the first send onwards, and nothing is applied backwards.

If you have, check the campaign’s own report first: a campaign that suppressed most of its audience sent few messages, and a campaign that sent few messages produces few deals. The report itself explains what to look at.

I want to see just the deals from one campaign

The campaign’s report gives you the count and the value, which is what most people want. Filtering the board itself to one campaign is available through the API but has no control on the screen yet.

For developers

deal.won and deal.lost carry a broadcast_id when the deal was produced by a campaign, and omit the field entirely when it was not. deal.created does not carry it — at the moment a deal is created the credit has not been worked out yet. See the event reference.
